Job summary

The Leongatha RSL invites applications for a dynamic General Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operation of the club, including hospitality and gaming, staff leadership and guest service.

You will develop strategies to grow revenue, manage budgeting and forecasting, ensure compliance with the RSA/RSG, OH&S and liquor regulations, and partner with the Board to deliver the club’s vision and community objectives.

The Leongatha RSL is located in the heart of South Gippsland, only a 90 minute drive southeast of Melbourne. The club itself features comfortable surrounds, with a large food and beverage offering including a family friendly bistro, functions space, sports bar and 44 electronic gaming machines.

Membership growth in all categories has been consistently growing and the club has more than 2600 financial members. The Leongatha RSL enjoys a very high profile in terms of its hospitality offering in the region and is a very popular and frequently visited regional club within the Victorian RSL Sub-Branch network.

An exciting opportunity to work within the RSL and support our objectives has become available for a highly competent, motivated and hands‑on General Manager. You will lead the day-to-day operation of this fantastic club and possess the appropriate experience gathered from previous management roles within the hospitality and gaming industry.

With a strong community presence, this role requires a commitment to deliver the Vision, Mission, Values and Objectives of the club, by providing the highest service standards to our members, guests and the veteran community.

We are seeking a dynamic, engaging and suitably experienced General Manager to drive and build the business with a focus on positioning the club to achieve commercial growth, and broaden our appeal to a larger cross section of the community.

To be successful, you will need to demonstrate skills & experience in:

• The ability to consistently achieve outstanding revenue and profit results
• A high level of business and financial management & reporting
• A strong understanding of budgeting and forecasting
• Experience in operational and strategic planning
• Excellent organisational skills with a proven ability to work with a Board of Management in setting, implementing, measuring and evolving all operational areas
• Clearly demonstrated leadership and management of a team of employees with a strong emphasis on the provision of exceptional customer service
• Commitment to staff training and development
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong leadership, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• A high level of proficiency in computer systems
• Knowledge of all relevant legislation including the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award, OH&S, Liquor, Food and other Gaming Regulatory and Corporate Compliance
• Hold current RSA and RSG Certificates
• Be able to develop ideas and create new initiatives, operate decisively under pressure and meet deadlines in a busy commercial environment
• You will be a team player with an easy going nature, have the ability to think strategically to focus on what is best for the organisation and our members and guests at all times.
• Demonstrated experience and skills in delivering projects across infrastructure and service environments.
• A demonstrated understanding of working in a service and veteran-focused environment, with the ability to understand and respond effectively to the needs of veterans, their families and the broader RSL community.
