Job summary

Western Downs Regional Council in Dalby is seeking a Ganger (Leading Hand - Works Maintenance) to lead frontline maintenance and support the Works Supervisor in delivering reliable infrastructure and services across the region.

You will oversee daily plant operations, supervise crews, and ensure safety, quality, and timely completion of works. A civil construction qualification or equivalent experience is required, along with a White Card and appropriate licenses.

Qualifications

• A relevant Certificate III in Civil Construction or demonstrated equivalent experience.
• Verification of Competency in the operation of various types of plant is highly desirable.
• OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card is preferred.
• Open 'LR' class drivers licence is required or willingness to obtain.
• Heavy Rigid (HR) Queensland Drivers Licence would be desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide high level support to the Works Supervisor in a leading role.
• Undertake operational and maintenance tasks to support council infrastructure.
• Lead and coordinate field crews to deliver maintenance work on time and to standard.

The Opportunity

The Ganger is responsible for providing a range of services to ensure the sustainability of community and council infrastructure aimed at enhancing the liveability and environment of our growing region.

The purpose of this role is to provide a high level of support to the Works Supervisor in undertaking a leading role whilst performing operational and maintenance tasks.

About Yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a relevant Certificate III in Civil Construction or willingness to complete such qualification in a required timeframe, OR be able to demonstrate equivalent related experience.

It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have:

• Verification of Competency in the operation of various types of plant
• OH&S Construction Safety Induction White Card
• Open 'LR' class drivers licence required or willingness to obtain
• Heavy Rigid (HR) Queensland Drivers Licence would be desirable
