Job summary

Corrective Services NSW is seeking a Tradesperson – Cabinet Making, Joinery or Carpentry to lead and mentor Overseers while coaching inmates to build practical, job-ready skills.

The role involves planning, coordinating daily operations, and driving productivity in a busy correctional environment. You’ll ensure safety, quality, and compliant service while supporting inmate outcomes and future employment prospects.

Qualifications

• Minimum Certificate III Cabinet Making or equivalent.
• Current Driver Licence and willingness to drive as required by role
• Forklift Licence desirable, otherwise must be willing to undertake training to obtain licence within set timeframe
• Post-trade experience with the ability to apply your skills effectively in a diverse operational environment
• Current Certificate III in Correctional Practise or willingness to obtain within timeframe set out by CSNSW
• Furniture manufacturing environment ISO 9001 Quality Management System, Pronto ERP or equivalent, WHS, SolidWorks

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop work teams to achieve organisational objectives.
• Supervise, train and mentor inmates to build practical skills and work readiness.
• Drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with CSNSW and CSI policies and probity requirements.
• Manage budgets and resources to maximise productivity and operational outcomes.
• Maintain a safe, compliant workplace for staff, contractors, inmates and visitors.
