Job summary

NSW Department of Communities and Justice is seeking a Tradesperson – Various Trades to lead and mentor inmates at Lithgow Correctional Centre. The role combines hands-on trade work with leadership to support rehabilitation and future employment opportunities.

You will coordinate daily operations, ensure safety and quality standards, and contribute to programs preparing inmates for successful reintegration into the community. Lithgow location, full-time, with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum Cert III in Warehousing, Logistics, Food, Construction, Horticulture, Textiles or Maintenance.
• Certificate III in Correctional Practice or willing to obtain within 12 months.
• Current NSW Drivers Licence and willing to drive for the role.
• Ability to work across multiple trades as required and set out by CSNSW.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and supervise inmates, passing on trade skills to build confidence for employment after release.
• Lead hands-on trade work while providing leadership and coaching.
• Deliver on-the-job training to prepare inmates for employment and reintegration.
• Manage workshop, tools, equipment and resources to meet WHS and quality standards.
