MMHR is recruiting a Funeral Director's Assistant in Canberra. No prior experience required; full induction and structured training will equip you to support Funeral Directors before, during, and after services, ensuring a dignified experience for families.

The role offers a full training program, a uniform, access to our EAP and debriefing support, and the chance to grow in a close-knit, family-owned team serving the local community.

Qualifications

• No funeral industry experience required.
• Current driver's license is essential.
• Empathy and calm demeanor in emotionally sensitive situations.
• Reliable, punctual and flexible with rostered hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist Funeral Directors before, during, and after services to ensure smooth, respectful proceedings.
• Prepare chapels, venues, vehicles, and equipment to a high standard.
• Provide courteous, discreet support to families and attendees on the day.
• Assist with transfers of the deceased and with preparation of deceased persons with dignity.
• Carry out safe manual handling of coffins and general cleaning duties.
