Global Supermarket Rockhampton is seeking an experienced Retail Manager (General) to oversee day-to-day operations, manage staff, control inventory, and implement retail strategies to drive sales. You will lead purchasing, pricing, merchandising and customer service initiatives to deliver profitable outcomes.

The role requires a Diploma or higher in Retail Management and at least one year in supermarket management, with strong leadership and communication skills.

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Retail Manager (General) to oversee the supermarket's day-to-day operations, manage staff, maintain inventory levels and implement effective retail management strategies to support the continued growth of our business. Key Duties and Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Planning, organising and managing the overall operations of the supermarket to ensure efficient and profitable business performance.
• Developing and implementing retail operational policies, sales strategies and customer service standards to improve store performance and customer satisfaction.
• Managing purchasing activities, determining appropriate product ranges and stock levels, and coordinating orders with local and interstate suppliers and distributors of Indian, Asian and international grocery products.
• Monitoring inventory levels, analysing product demand and sales trends, and implementing effective stock control procedures to minimise wastage, shortages and overstocking.
• Establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating product pricing, purchasing arrangements and delivery schedules to ensure competitive pricing and consistent product availability.
• Formulating and implementing pricing strategies, promotional campaigns, seasonal offers and merchandising initiatives to increase sales and profitability.
• Monitoring store revenue, operating expenses, profit margins and sales performance, and preparing operational and financial reports for business management.
• Recruiting, training, supervising and managing supermarket employees, including allocating duties, preparing staff rosters and evaluating employee performance.
• Ensuring the effective presentation, display and merchandising of grocery products to maximise customer convenience, product visibility and sales opportunities.
• Maintaining high standards of customer service, resolving escalated customer complaints and implementing initiatives to improve customer retention and satisfaction.
• Overseeing cash handling procedures, point-of-sale systems, daily sales reconciliation and financial control processes.
• Ensuring compliance with applicable food safety, workplace health and safety, employment and consumer protection requirements.
• Monitoring product expiry dates, storage conditions and stock rotation procedures to maintain product quality and minimise losses.
• Analysing customer purchasing patterns, market trends and local competition to identify opportunities for business improvement and expansion.
• Reporting regularly to business owners on store operations, staffing requirements, financial performance and business development opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience To be considered for this position, applicants should possess:

• A relevant Diploma or higher qualification in Retail Management, Business Management, Business Administration or a related discipline, and/or substantial relevant industry experience.
• A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in retail or supermarket management is preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in managing retail operations, inventory control, supplier relationships and staff supervision.
• Sound knowledge of retail pricing, merchandising, purchasing and financial management.
• Strong leadership, organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to analyse sales performance and implement strategies to improve business profitability.
• Familiarity with Indian, Asian and international grocery products would be advantageous.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and maintain high operational standards.
