Job summary

Department of Justice and Community Safety invites applications for a Programs Officer in Beechworth, VIC. You will support prisoner programs that help individuals build skills and prepare for life after prison, working with a friendly team to ensure daily program delivery and essential services run smoothly.

The role requires experience in correctional environments, with a Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment desirable.

Qualifications

Experience or understanding of working in a correctional environment.
Welfare, employment or housing experience is advantageous.
Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is desirable.
Experience using Microsoft 365 applications.
Strong communication and ability to explain information clearly.
Flexibility and respect when working with diverse backgrounds; collaborative.

Responsibilities

Deliver prisoner programs and support services, including intake and orientation.
Assist prisoners to access programs, activities and welfare support.
Complete administration, maintain records and manage program information.
Support staff with prisoner referrals, welfare requests and daily program activities.
Work with multidisciplinary teams to encourage participation and support community transition.
