Job summary

Total Facility Maintenance Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated full-time Painter to prepare surfaces and apply finishes across various client sites in Melbourne. This role demands precision, safety compliance, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

You will handle surface prep, coatings, colour matching, and touch-ups while maintaining high workmanship standards and meeting project deadlines. A valid painting qualification and 2+ years' experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Painting and Decorating (or equivalent Australian-recognised qualification).
• Minimum of 2 years full-time experience in residential and/or commercial painting.
• Proven experience with a variety of painting tools, techniques, and surface finishes.
• Sound knowledge of painting materials, colour matching, surface preparation, and finishing methods.
• Excellent attention to detail and high-quality workmanship standards.
• Ability to read and interpret job plans and instructions.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Capacity to work outdoors and indoors, in various conditions and heights.
• Ability to work autonomously or within a team structure.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, scraping, sanding, filling holes, and sealing cracks.
• Apply paint, varnish, sealants, or other finishes to walls, ceilings, buildings, and other structures.
• Ensure proper coverage, smooth finishes, and colour consistency across surfaces.
• Perform touch-ups and repairs as necessary to maintain visual and structural integrity.
• Operate and maintain painting tools and equipment including brushes, rollers, spray guns, and ladders.
• Protect surrounding areas with drop cloths and masking tape to prevent damage.
• Interpret work instructions, follow job specifications, and adhere to client requirements.
• Follow WHS guidelines and procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
• Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with clients.
• Work independently and efficiently to meet project deadlines and maintain schedule commitments.
