Job summary

Spotless Painting and Cleaning Pty Ltd is a Melbourne-based painting company delivering high-quality services across residential and commercial sites in greater Melbourne. The role is a permanent, full-time position offering a salary of AU$80,000–AU$85,000 plus Superannuation and ongoing training.

You will prepare surfaces, apply coatings, hang wallpaper, and work with a collaborative team on diverse projects from small touch-ups to large new-build developments.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year experience working as a Painter.

Responsibilities

• Prepare interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting, including stripping old paint or wallpaper, patching, filling and sanding.
• Apply paint, varnish, stains and other coatings to various surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Hang wallpaper with pattern alignment and neat edges.
• Set up and operate painting tools and equipment safely.
• Coordinate with site supervisors and other trades to keep projects on schedule.

Task & Responsibilities

• Preparing interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting, including stripping old paint or wallpaper, patching, filling and sanding to achieve a smooth, ready-to-paint finish
• Applying paint, varnish, stains and other protective or decorative coatings to a variety of surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment
• Selecting, mixing and blending paints, pigments and additives to achieve accurate colour matches and the desired finish
• Hanging wallpaper with precise pattern alignment and neatly trimmed edges
• Erecting and dismantling scaffolding, positioning ladders safely, and laying drop sheets and other protective coverings to prevent paint splatter and damage to surrounding surfaces
• Setting up, maintaining and safely operating painting tools and equipment, including spray guns, rollers, brushes and sanding equipment
• Carrying out minor surface and window repairs, including patching plaster and replacing damaged glass where required
• Liaising and coordinating with site supervisors, builders and other trades to sequence painting work efficiently and keep projects on schedule
• Maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship with keen attention to detail, and performing quality checks on completed work
• Cleaning down tools, equipment and work areas on completion of each job, and disposing of waste materials responsibly
• Following all workplace health and safety guidelines and keeping a clean, organized worksite at all times

Qualifications & Experience

• At least 1 year experience working as a Painter
• Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, or an equivalent or higher qualification
• Sound working knowledge of painting techniques, materials and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and work orders
• Excellent attention to detail and a genuine commitment to quality workmanship
• Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
