Job summary

Respect Group Limited is hiring a Full-Time Maintenance Services Assistant at Chaffey House in Merbein to keep gardens, facilities and outdoor spaces in excellent condition. The role emphasizes practical maintenance, gardening and preventative tasks within a supportive, not-for-profit environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in gardening, general handyman work, building maintenance or property upkeep.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise maintenance tasks.
• Good attention to detail and commitment to keeping facilities clean, safe and well presented.
• Current driver’s licence.
• Experience in maintenance, facilities management, groundskeeping or similar.
• A relevant trade qualification or maintenance-related certification.
• Experience in aged care, health care or similar residential environment is desirable.
• Good communication skills with residents, colleagues, contractors and visitors.
• A National Police Certificate or willingness to obtain one.
• Willingness to meet Aged Care Worker Screening requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining gardens, outdoor areas, pathways and grounds to keep them neat and welcoming.
• Carrying out general handyman duties, repairs and routine maintenance.
• Keeping buildings, equipment, fixtures and communal areas in good working order.
• Identifying maintenance issues and addressing them promptly to prevent major repairs.
• Undertaking preventative maintenance tasks and following schedules.
• Managing maintenance and gardening supplies and keeping records up to date.
• Maintaining maintenance documentation and schedules.
• Supporting workplace health and safety, fire safety and regulatory compliance.
• Liaising with external contractors and service providers as required.
• Keeping site vehicles and tools clean, safe and ready for use.
• Responding to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Providing on-call support as required and agreed.
• Collaborating with the team to maintain a safe, comfortable environment for residents.
