Job summary

St Vincent de Paul Society NSW is seeking a Vinnies Van Case Worker to provide professional case management and holistic support to people experiencing homelessness and housing instability in the Illawarra region.

The role collaborates with volunteers, conducts intake and planning, and connects clients with services while maintaining confidential records. A minimum TAFE Certificate IV in welfare and strong communication skills are required.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Sound computer skills and familiarity with basic data entry.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Awareness of Work Health and Safety legislation.
  • Experience supporting marginalised or homeless individuals is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation of the Strategic Plan and effective risk management practices.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive and respectful environment for staff, volunteers and clients.
  • Engage with people sleeping rough or at risk of homelessness.
  • Conduct client intake, assessment and case planning.
  • Provide information, advocacy, crisis intervention and ongoing support.
  • Connect clients with external services, education and life skills programs.
  • Provide additional support to people accessing Vinnies Van soft-entry services.
  • Develop collaborative partnerships with key stakeholders and service providers.
  • Support clients in a non-judgemental, inclusive and confidential manner.
  • Assist clients to understand and follow service rules and procedures.
  • Maintain accurate client records, case notes and data.
