Job summary

Malaysian Gourmet Nedlands Pty Ltd is seeking experienced full-time cooks to join our kitchen in Western Australia. You will prepare and cook a variety of Malaysian and Asian-style dishes, following recipes and customer orders, while maintaining high standards of quality and presentation.

Responsibilities include inspecting ingredients, applying cooking techniques, monitoring temperatures, portioning, training kitchen hands, and supporting efficient operations during busy periods.

Qualifications

• AQF Certificate III in Cookery or at least 2 years of Asian restaurant work experience.
• Good team work spirit.
• Asian cultural background preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a variety of Malaysian and Asian-style dishes per recipes and orders.
• Inspect ingredient quality and prepare meat, vegetables, rice, soups, sauces and other items.
• Apply steaming, stir-frying, deep-frying and simmering with consistent flavour.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures for proper cooking and presentation.
• Portion, assemble and garnish dishes before serving.
• Prepare ingredients in advance to support busy periods.
• Prepare meals according to dietary requirements when applicable.
• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen facilities in line with hygiene standards.
• Assist in training and supervising kitchen hands in food prep and safe handling.

Full-time Cooks Required

We are looking for full-time cooks to join our team.

Successful applicants are expected to assist the company’s business revenue growth through the delivery of authentic Asian cuisines.

Duties will include:

• Prepare and cook a variety of Malaysian and Asian-style dishes in accordance with established recipes and customer orders.
• Inspect the quality and freshness of ingredients, and prepare meat, vegetables, rice, soups, sauces and other food items for daily cooking.
• Apply appropriate cooking techniques, including steaming, stir-frying, deep-frying and simmering, while seasoning dishes to achieve consistent flavour and quality.
• Monitor and adjust cooking times and temperatures to ensure food is properly cooked and presented.
• Portion, assemble and garnish dishes, ensuring consistent presentation and quality before serving.
• Prepare ingredients and food items in advance to support efficient kitchen operations during busy trading periods.
• Prepare meals according to customers' dietary requirements and preferences, where applicable.
• Monitor stock levels, rotate ingredients and assist with ordering food supplies when required.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, cooking facilities and food preparation areas, ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
• Assist in training and supervising kitchen hands in food preparation, cooking procedures and safe food handling practices.

Salary: $79,500.00 to $85,000.00 /year
