Job summary

Susuru Izakaya in Newcastle CBD is seeking a full-time cook/kitchen hand to join our traditional Japanese ramen and izakaya kitchen. You will work in a busy environment, learn our dumpling and ramen preparation, and support the kitchen team to deliver high-quality dishes.

The role requires at least 1 year of experience, flexibility with a 38-42 hour week including weekends and public holidays, and knowledge of food safety and cleaning procedures.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience in a similar role.

We are seeking a full-time cook/kitchen hand.

'Susuru Izakaya' Restaurant in Newcastle CBD is a traditional Japanese ramen restaurant recently renovated and relaunched as a Japanese izakaya. We have our own factory to make Japanese dumplings called ’Gyoza' and also make ramen broth.

Our workers are very friendly and have a great work environment to learn different skills and knowledge of cooking.

The staff who work at the restaurant are from multiple cultures (including international students), which will be a great experience to work with and learn lots of different cultures.

We are seeking full-time cooks/kitchen hands who can start immediately.

We require professionally minded staff to join our team.

Successful candidates will be able to work flexibly within our roster, which includes weekends and public holidays.

The ideal candidates for seeking positions are

• Have at least 1 year of experience in a similar role
• Confident to work in a busy restaurant
• Flexibility (38 - 42 hours a week, including weekends and split shifts)
• Have knowledge of food safety and cleaning procedures.
• Interest in Japanese culture

Remuneration is based on award levels and is negotiable based on experience and performance.
