Job summary

Maya Lounge in Sydney is seeking an experienced Cook for a full-time role in a busy kitchen. You will prepare ingredients, cook a variety of dishes and maintain high standards of quality, hygiene and presentation.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated commercial cooking experience, strong practical skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment. Weekend work may be required; salary is competitive with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated commercial cooking experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment.
• Strong practical cooking and food preparation skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Willingness to work full-time, including weekends and public holidays.
• Ability to train kitchen staff/apprentices.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and cooking a variety of dishes in line with menu and recipes.
• Operate commercial cooking equipment safely and effectively.
• Monitor cooking processes and maintain food quality and presentation.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
• Assist with stock control and kitchen supplies.
• Clean and maintain kitchen areas and equipment after service.
• Support in menu planning and estimating food requirements.
