Job summary

Cipher Recruitment is seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to join the Systems team in Sydney or Brisbane on a hybrid basis. You will design and build full-stack features across internal web platforms and maintain integrations with core systems such as Power BI, Microsoft Azure and Employment Hero.

You will also contribute to Python-based development, manage hosting configurations, and ensure data integrity while driving improvements in tooling, testing and release processes.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in a Full Stack Developer role.
• Proficiency in PHP and Laravel is essential.
• Strong experience with Node.js, React or Angular.
• MySQL experience.
• Some Python and ability to deploy Python apps.
• Experience with cloud environments, especially Azure; AWS welcome.

Full Stack Developer (PHP/Laravel) | Sydney or Brisbane | Hybrid

Our client is looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to join their growing Systems team and play an integral role in shaping, building and maintaining their internal web platform.

This is an opportunity to work across people, project, knowledge, business development and operational systems, developing innovative solutions and seamless integrations that keep the business connected, efficient and data-driven.

The Role

As a Full Stack Developer, you will:

• Design, build, test and deliver full-stack features across internal web platforms.
• Develop and maintain integrations with core business systems, including Power BI, Microsoft Azure and Employment Hero.
• Contribute to Python-based development and deployment.
• Manage hosting configuration and application environments alongside the Systems Administrator.
• Maintain production data integrity through backups, change control and risk management.
• Maintain and improve search, notification and reporting functionality.
• Identify improvements to development practices, including tooling, testing, code review and release processes.
• Ensure development and release practices align with quality management and assurance requirements.
• Help shape the technical direction of the organisation's internal applications.

We're looking for someone who can confidently work across the full development lifecycle and has strong hands‑on experience with the following:

• 5+ years' experience in a similar Full Stack Developer role (Candidates with less experience may be considered).
• Strong proficiency in PHP and Laravel — this is essential.
• Strong experience with Node.js / React / Angular and Node.js — essential.
• Experience with MySQL.
• Working knowledge of Python, including the ability to deploy Python applications.
• Experience working with cloud environments, particularly Microsoft Azure.
• Experience with AWS is also welcome; an AWS background can readily transfer to the organisation's Azure environment.
• Knowledge of Power BI is highly desirable.
• Strong front‑end development skills across HTML, CSS and modern component‑based interfaces, including Tailwind.
• A relevant bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Relevant cloud, development or AECO platform certifications are advantageous.

Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who is a clear communicator, collaborative and customer-focused. You'll be working with people across the business, so the ability to understand requirements, communicate technical concepts clearly and provide great internal customer service is key.

The role operates on a hybrid basis, typically with 4 days in the office and 1 day working from home. Additional flexibility to work from home can be accommodated on an ad hoc basis where required.

Candidates must have unrestricted working rights in Australia, with the ability to work from Sydney or Brisbane. Candidates on valid visas will be considered provided there are no restrictions on working hours or location.

Visa sponsorship is not currently available as standard, although exceptional candidates may be considered.
