Job summary

KFL Supermarket Wantirna South is seeking a dedicated fresh produce assistant to help maintain high standards in our fruit and veg department. You will rotate stock, monitor quality, restock displays and assist customers with inquiries, all while keeping the area clean and safe.

Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the high standards of our fresh produce section. You will work closely with the team to ensure our fruits and vegetables are always fresh, beautifully merchandised, and accurately priced.

Key responsibilities

Stock Rotation & Quality Control: Consistently check stock to ensure freshness, removing damaged items and rotating produce (FIFO) to minimize waste.

Merchandising & Presentation: Replenish displays efficiently, ensuring the fruit and veg section remains clean, fully stocked, and visually appealing.

Manual Handling: Receive deliveries, unload stock, and safely lift/move heavy crates and boxes of produce.

Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, assist with product inquiries, and maintain a friendly, welcoming shopping environment.

Hygiene & Safety: Maintain strict cleanliness standards across the shop floor and cool room areas.

About you

Prior experience working in a supermarket fresh produce department, fruit market, or greengrocer setup is highly preferred.

Strong physical fitness and the ability to comfortably perform heavy lifting, repetitive bending, and standing for long periods.

Excellent attention to detail to spot quality issues and manage stock presentation effectively.

Reliability and adaptability, with a strong work ethic to thrive in a fast-paced retail environment.

Flexible availability, including the ability to work early mornings, weekends, or public holidays.

Multilingual skills (e.g., English paired with Mandarin or Cantonese) are a major advantage but not essential.
