Qualifications

  • Experience in quality control, QA, or produce inspection roles.
  • Current LF forklift licence and forklift operation experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance checks and inspections of fresh produce.
  • Assess quality, condition, presentation and export suitability.
  • Collaborate with warehouse staff to uphold quality standards.
  • Educate and guide staff on acceptable produce quality and handling.
  • Oversee receivals and stock management in the warehouse.
  • Assist with forklift operations when required.
  • Support general warehouse operations and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
  • Perform physical/manual tasks as needed.

Job description

We are a busy and growing fruit and vegetable export company located within the Sydney Markets at Homebush West, looking for an experienced and reliable Quality Control & Warehouse Team Member to join our team.

This is a hands-on role with a strong focus on quality assurance, produce inspections and maintaining high-quality standards throughout our receiving and warehouse operations.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Your primary responsibility will be to inspect incoming produce, ensure quality standards are maintained, and work closely with the warehouse team to ensure staff understand and follow our quality requirements.

The role will include:

  • Conducting quality assurance checks and inspections of fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Assessing produce quality, condition, presentation and suitability for export
  • Working closely with warehouse staff to maintain consistent quality standards
  • Educating and guiding staff on acceptable produce quality and handling standards
  • Receivals and stock management
  • Assisting with forklift operations when required
  • Supporting general warehouse operations
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
  • Completing some physical and manual work as required

Working hours: Approximately 8-9 hours per day, Sunday to Thursday, with occasional longer days as required by operational demands.

Sunday to Thursday
Start time: approximately 2:00am – 3:00am

This is a busy, fast-paced warehouse environment, so the successful applicant must be comfortable working early mornings and working efficiently under time pressure.

ABOUT YOU
  • Strong knowledge and experience with fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Previous experience in quality control, quality assurance, produce inspection or fresh produce
  • A good understanding of fresh produce quality standards
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • The ability to identify quality issues quickly and accurately
  • Good communication skills and the confidence to guide and educate other staff
  • Ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for quality decisions
  • Current LF Forklift Licence and forklift experience
  • Current Australian Driver Licence
  • Ability to undertake physical/manual work
  • Reliability and punctuality, particularly for early morning starts
THE RIGHT PERSON

The successful applicant will be someone who takes pride in quality and presentation, has a strong understanding of fresh produce and can confidently communicate quality expectations to the warehouse team.

Experience within a fresh produce, wholesale, export, packing or distribution environment will be highly regarded.
