Job summary

Sabre Engineering Ltd is seeking a Project Engineer or Project Manager to support early development of mining projects from concept to investment approval. Brisbane based, you will work with operations, maintenance, engineering and commercial teams to define and develop heavy mobile equipment projects through early phases.

The role focuses on building business cases, scopes of work, schedules and cost estimates, with strong written communication to support investment approvals.

Front End Loading Resource - Earth Moving Equipment

Project Engineer | Heavy Mobile Equipment
We are looking for a Project Engineer or Project Manager with strong heavy mobile equipment experience to support the early development of mining projects from initial concept through to investment approval.

This is a Brisbane based position working within a team responsible for completing the Front End Loading and project development work required before projects are handed across to the execution team.

The role is particularly suited to someone with practical mining project experience who understands heavy earth moving equipment and can develop clear project documentation, scopes, estimates and business cases.

The Role
You will work with operational, maintenance, engineering and project stakeholders to define and develop heavy mobile equipment projects through the early project phases.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing project business cases
• Preparing project scopes of work
• Building project schedules
• Developing project cost estimates
• Preparing project documentation and supporting reports
• Completing investment approval documentation and requests
• Working with stakeholders to define project requirements
• Identifying project risks, constraints and dependencies
• Developing projects through the Front End Loading process
• Supporting options analysis and project justification
• Coordinating input from operations, maintenance, engineering and commercial stakeholders
• Ensuring projects are sufficiently developed before handover to execution teams

About You
The key requirement for this role is strong experience with mining heavy mobile equipment.

You will ideally have experience with equipment such as:

• Haul trucks
• Excavators
• Dozers
• Graders
• Loaders
• Ancillary mining equipment
• Other heavy earth moving equipment

You will also ideally have:

• Experience working within mining, resources or heavy industry
• Project Engineering or Project Management experience
• Experience developing scopes of work
• Experience preparing schedules and cost estimates
• Strong written communication and technical documentation skills
• Experience developing business cases or investment approval documentation
• Strong stakeholder management capability
• The ability to work across operations, maintenance, engineering and project teams
• Good commercial and analytical capability
• The ability to take an early stage project and develop it into a clearly defined scope for execution

Experience with Front End Loading, capital project development, investment approval processes or major mobile equipment projects will be highly regarded.

This role does not require someone to be a senior Project Manager.

We are open to Project Engineers, Project Managers or similar professionals who have the right combination of heavy mobile equipment knowledge, project development experience and strong written communication skills.
