Job summary

Googong High School will open to year 7 and 8 students in 2027 and is located in the Queanbeyan Network. The Special Education Teacher will be a founding member of the Student Matters faculty, shaping holistic learning and wellbeing for students and families, and helping design a new support unit.

The role involves teaching students with complex needs, collaborating with staff, and contributing to the development of a contemporary curriculum aligned with the school’s Learning Sciences framework.

Qualifications

• Approval to teach Special Education and/or experience teaching students withAutism and/or Mild Intellectual Disability.
• Ability to plan, implement and reflect on quality teaching programs that support students with complex needs.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to form strong relationships with staff, students and families.

Responsibilities

• Founding member of our Student Matters faculty focused on wellbeing and logistic support for students and families.
• Play a key role in establishing the school’s first multi-categorical support class and its program design.
• Deliver high-quality teaching to students with special needs while contributing to curriculum planning.
