Job summary

Amara Advisory is seeking a Senior Rail Engineer/Technical Director in Perth to lead technical initiatives across rail projects. You will design field trials, prepare submissions, and shape Australian standards while engaging with asset owners and operators.

The role offers flexible engagement (part-time, contract or full-time) and an equity participation option tied to milestones, reflecting the founding leadership nature of the position.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in rail track or permanent way engineering.
• Chartered engineer status (CPEng / NER) or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of track condition and rail stress management.
• Familiarity with WHS Regulations and AICIS introduction requirements.
• Experience on asset owner side approving new products or technologies.
• Credibility with rail operators and senior engineering stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design and lead field trials, including site selection, monitoring and data analysis.
• Prepare method statements, risk assessments and technical submissions for rail owners' engineering approval.
• Develop application methodologies suited to Australian rail profiles and conditions.
• Produce technical reports and present results to asset owners' engineering teams.
• Coordinate independent validation of results.
• Shape technical standards for rollout across Australian networks.
