Job summary

SUBUTAI SOLUTIONS PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Formwork Carpenter for full-time work in Canberra, ACT. The role involves constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork for concrete and structural elements across multiple sites.

The successful candidate will read plans, measure, and assemble formwork, coordinate with trades, and maintain WHS standards on every project. Minimum 1 year of related experience is preferred, with a White Card required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Formwork Carpenter or in a similar construction role.
• Certificate III in Carpentry or related trade preferred.
• Sound knowledge of timber, conventional, or modular formwork systems.
• Ability to read and follow construction drawings and instructions.
• Competency in the use of carpentry tools and construction equipment.
• Valid White Card (mandatory).
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and a safety-focused attitude.

Responsibilities

• Building, fitting, and removing formwork for concrete slabs, walls, columns, footings, and beams.
• Reviewing and following building plans, technical drawings, specifications, and site instructions.
• Measuring, marking out, positioning, levelling, and securing formwork accurately on site.
• Cutting, preparing, and assembling timber and other materials required for formwork.
• Adjusting and checking formwork to ensure accurate dimensions, levels, alignment, and stability.
• Operating carpentry hand tools, power tools, and relevant construction equipment safely.
• Checking formwork before concrete placement and assisting with the preparation and handling of site materials and equipment.
• Liaising with supervisors, builders, concreters, engineers, and other trades to coordinate daily construction activities.
• Keeping work areas clean and orderly while complying with WHS requirements, safety procedures, and relevant construction standards.
• Carrying out general formwork and carpentry tasks as required by the site supervisor.

The successful candidate will work across construction sites and contribute to the preparation, installation, and dismantling of formwork required for concrete and structural works.
