Job summary

Australasian Mail Services is seeking a highly experienced forklift operator to join our busy Melbourne warehouse. The role is casual with full-time hours, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, handling loading/unloading, stacking cages, and supporting 3PL operations.

You will perform pre-start checks and maintain safety while moving freight efficiently. Significant forklift experience in a busy freight environment is essential, with a strong focus on safety, load stability and teamwork.

• Significant, recent forklift experience in a busy warehouse or freight environment.
• Ability to handle varied loads and manoeuvre safely in confined spaces.
• Experience stacking freight and loading/unloading trucks.
• Strong focus on load stability, accuracy and safe work practices.
• Reliability and a positive attitude; willingness to support the team.
• Available to work full-time hours on a casual basis.
• Reach forklift experience is advantageous but not essential.

This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced freight and logistics environment. You will need significant, recent forklift operating experience, strong attention to safety and the ability to handle varied freight accurately and efficiently. The position will commence on a casual basis, working full-time hours, with warehouse operating hours of 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Key responsibilities

• Loading and unloading trucks carrying loose and palletised cargo
• Manoeuvring loose cargo on pallets safely through a busy warehouse
• Double-stacking metal freight cages, carefully aligning connecting pins to ensure cages are securely and safely stacked
• Supporting forklift operations across freight and third-party logistics (3PL) divisions
• Scanning, sorting and moving freight, including manual handling
• Completing forklift pre-start checks and maintaining a safe, organised work area

About you

• Significant, recent experience operating forklifts in a busy warehouse or freight environment
• Confidence handling varied loads and manoeuvring safely in confined spaces
• Experience stacking freight and loading and unloading trucks
• A strong focus on load stability, accuracy and safe work practices
• Reliability, a positive attitude and a willingness to support the team
• Availability to work full-time hours on a casual basis
• Reach forklift experience would be an advantage but is not essential
