Job summary

Taronga Zoo is hiring casual Food & Beverage Attendants to support our vibrant hospitality operations across Café Wild, Waterhole Café, Events, and Zoofari restaurant at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo. Flexible shifts from early mornings to late nights for events offer variety and a chance to work in a unique wildlife setting.

Role involves delivering exceptional guest service, food & beverage duties, setup, service, order taking, and POS transactions. Training is provided on the job.

Qualifications

• Experience in front-of-house food and beverage operations.
• RSA certification is required or obtainable on hire.
• Willingness to obtain NSW Working with Children Check.
• Flexibility to work a rotating Mon–Sun schedule, including early mornings and events.
• A valid driver’s license is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional service to zoo guests across cafés, events and restaurant.
• Set up venues for service and assist with event spaces as needed.
• Serve guests and manage orders with a POS system.
• Maintain cleanliness and handle washing up efficiently.
• Take orders and process EFTPOS/cash transactions accurately.

At Taronga Zoo in Sydney and Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, we lead conservation efforts in the field and participate in regional and global conservation breeding programs to establish insurance populations for species threatened in the wild. We also operate two wildlife hospitals that treat and rehabilitate injured native wildlife, as well as providing best practice health care for the animals at our Zoos.

• Casual Pay Rates: Mon to Fri Rates from $22.12 (17 years) to $35.68 (21 years +) plus weekend penalties where applicable

• Deliver Exceptional Service: Provide top-notch customer service to our zoo guests, ensuring they have a memorable visit.
• Food & Beverage Duties: Engage in a variety of tasks, including:
• Setting Up: Prepare the café, event space, or restaurant for service.
• Serving Guests: Deliver delicious meals to our guests with a smile.
• Maintaining Cleanliness: Clear tables and handle washing up to keep the area spotless.
• Order Taking: Use the POS system to take orders efficiently.
• Handling Transactions: Manage Eftpos and cash transactions with accuracy.

• Flexible and Available: Ready to work on a rotating schedule from Monday to Sunday.
• Experienced: Have front-of-house food and beverage operations experience.
• Coffee Enthusiasts: Experience making coffees is a plus, but not essential - we'll provide on-the-job training!
• Adaptable: Able to meet varying roster commitments, including out-of-hours, school holidays, weekends, and holidays.
• Certified: Hold or are willing to obtain a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certification.
• Child-Safe: Have a current paid NSW Working with Children Check or the ability to obtain one.
• Licensed: Possess a driver's license if applicable.
