Job summary

Factory 51 in Coorparoo, Brisbane, is seeking an experienced Function Supervisor to lead the floor during weddings and other events. You’ll supervise the bar and waiting staff, run pre-shift briefings, and ensure every guest and client leaves happy.

You’ll work closely with the Events team to bring functions to life, oversee setup and timings, and manage client contact on the night. Availability for evenings and weekends is required.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of hospitality experience including supervising or team leading in functions/events/restaurants
• Strong bar and table service skills to lead from the front
• Confident, clear communication with staff, clients and suppliers
• Calm under pressure with great attention to detail and timing
• Professional, positive attitude and love of great service
• Evenings and weekends availability, especially Fridays and Saturdays
• Well presented with black service attire

Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead bar and wait staff throughout each function
• Run pre-shift briefings with run sheet, menu, dietary requirements and timings
• Oversee venue setup and pack down to floorplan and client brief
• Act as the on-the-night contact for clients, MCs and vendors
• Manage service timings with the kitchen (canapés, plated courses, speeches)
• Oversee responsible service of alcohol and handle guest issues calmly
• Keep things running to the run sheet and adapt when plans change
• Complete end-of-night close, including bar reconciliation and incident reports
• Support, train and mentor newer staff
• Provide feedback to the Events team after each function

Factory 51 is a much-loved wedding and events venue in Coorparoo, and we’re looking for an experienced Function Supervisor to lead our team on the floor. If you love running a smooth service, can keep a team motivated on a busy night, and care about the details that make an event special, we’d love to hear from you.

About the role

You’ll be the go-to person on the night for weddings, corporate events, milestone celebrations and celebrations of life. You’ll work closely with the Events team to bring each function to life, lead the bar and wait staff, and make sure every guest and client leaves happy.

What you’ll do

Supervise and lead bar and wait staff throughout each function

Run pre-shift briefings, so the team knows the run sheet, menu, dietary requirements and timings

Oversee venue setup and pack down to the floorplan and client brief

Act as the main on-the-night contact for clients, MCs and vendors

Manage service timings with the kitchen, including canapés, plated courses, speeches and cake

Oversee responsible service of alcohol and handle any guest issues calmly and professionally

Keep things running to the run sheet and adapt quickly when plans change

Complete end-of-night close, including bar reconciliation and incident reports

Support, train and mentor newer staff

Feed back to the Events team after each function

What we’re looking for

At least 1-2 years’ hospitality experience, including supervising or team leading in functions, events or restaurants

Strong bar and table service skills, so you can lead from the front

Confident, clear communication with staff, clients and suppliers

Calm under pressure, with a good eye for detail and a strong sense of timing

A professional, positive attitude and a genuine love of great service

Availability for evenings and weekends, especially Fridays and Saturdays

Well presented, with your own black service attire

Nice to have
