Job summary

Brighton Coach Pty Ltd in Sydney is seeking an experienced operations manager to lead the day-to-day management of our coach fleet, drivers and Turrella depot. This hands-on role requires practical knowledge of vehicles, safety checks and fleet performance.

You will recruit and onboard drivers, coordinate daily dispatch and maintenance, oversee depot yard operations and support major events or rail replacements while ensuring compliance and high depot standards.

Qualifications

• Experience managing drivers and/or a transport depot.
• Strong knowledge of fleet operations and vehicle maintenance.
• Experience with driver recruitment, induction and training.
• A NSW driver’s licence with MR/HR/HC preferred.
• Bus/coach driving experience and NSW passenger transport operations experience are highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Job description

You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of our coach fleet, drivers and depot operations. This is a practical operational role requiring someone who understands the bus/coach industry and is comfortable working directly with drivers, vehicles and the depot.

Key responsibilities

Driver Management

Recruit, interview and onboard new coach drivers

Conduct driver inductions and assist with driver training

Monitor driver performance, attendance and conduct

Manage driver documentation, licences, accreditations and compliance

Coordinate daily vehicle dispatch and return

Conduct regular vehicle condition and safety checks

Monitor vehicle cleanliness, presentation, fuel and general condition

Record and follow up vehicle defects

Coordinate servicing, repairs, inspections and maintenance

Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Turrella depot

Fleet Management

Coordinate daily vehicle dispatch and return

Conduct regular vehicle condition and safety checks

Monitor vehicle cleanliness, presentation, fuel and general condition

Record and follow up vehicle defects

Coordinate servicing, repairs, inspections and maintenance

Liaise with mechanics and external suppliers

Monitor fleet availability and minimise vehicle downtime

Assist with breakdowns and operational emergencies when required

Depot & Yard Operations

Take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Turrella depot

Maintain an organised, safe and efficient coach yard

Coordinate vehicle parking and movement within the yard

Manage keys, fuel, washing/cleaning and basic depot supplies

Ensure the depot and vehicles are kept clean, safe and presentable

Identify and resolve operational issues before they affect services

Operations Support

Work closely with the Operations and Charter teams

Support major events, peak periods and rail replacement operations

Assist with last-minute driver or vehicle changes

Be available to respond to urgent operational issues when required

Occasionally drive a coach or assist operationally when necessary

About you

Previous experience in bus, coach or passenger transport operations

Experience managing drivers and/or a transport depot

Strong knowledge of fleet operations and vehicle maintenance

Experience with driver recruitment, induction and training

Strong understanding of transport safety and compliance

A practical, hands-on approach to problem solving

Excellent communication and people-management skills

Ability to work independently and make operational decisions

Good computer and administration skills

A current NSW driver's licence with MR/HR/HC licence preferred

Bus/coach driving experience highly regarded

Experience with TfNSW or NSW passenger transport operations highly regarded
