Job summary

Australian Transit Group (ATG) BUSWEST invites an experienced Operations Manager to lead the Midland Depot. This hands-on role oversees day-to-day operations, staffing and service delivery, ensuring safety and reliability for school, charter and contracted services.

You will build an operational culture focused on safety, accountability and clear communication. You’ll work with schools, clients and ATG colleagues to drive performance, staff development and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience managing people and operations in transport, logistics or passenger transport.
• Strong leadership and communication skills.
• Solutions‑focused approach to operational challenges.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to stay calm and decide quickly in fast-paced environments.
• Strong understanding of safety, compliance and risk management.
• Confidence to hold people accountable and build a positive team culture.
• Strong computer and administrative skills.
• A current MR licence or higher is advantageous.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced and energetic Operations Manager to lead our Midland Depot.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will take ownership of the day-to-day operation, lead your team and ensure our services are delivered safely, reliably and to the standard our customers expect.

You will be responsible for building a strong operational culture where safety, accountability, communication and service delivery come first.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Lead, coach and develop drivers and operational staff

About you

We are looking for a leader, not just an administrator.

You will be someone who is comfortable being visible in the depot, talking to drivers, solving problems and making decisions.

You will ideally have:

• Experience managing people and operations in transport, logistics, passenger transport or a similar environment
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• A practical, solutions-focused approach
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills
• The ability to remain calm and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• A strong understanding of safety, compliance and risk management
• The confidence to hold people accountable while building a positive team culture
• Strong computer and administrative skills
• A current MR licence or higher is advantageous

This role is for someone who wants to be part of the Midland community

We are looking for someone who lives in, or is genuinely based around, the Midland area and wants to take ownership of a local operation.

Being locally based means you can be part of the depot, the team and the community — and be available to properly lead the operation rather than simply manage it from a distance.
