Job summary

Hastings Deering in Rockhampton invites skilled machinists to join the CRC workshop. This permanent, Monday to Friday role focuses on machining, repairing, and manufacturing components to tight tolerances using CNC and conventional equipment.

You’ll operate CNC and manual machines, read technical drawings, and uphold strict safety and quality standards while contributing to continuous improvement and team objectives.

Qualifications

• Machining experience with CNC and/or conventional equipment.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and work to tight tolerances.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Team player who can manage tasks independently.
• Safety-minded with focus on health and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Produce quality components - machine, repair and manufacture components to precise specifications and tolerances.
• Operate CNC and manual lathes, mills, boring machines and related workshop equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings - work from technical drawings, specifications and work instructions to deliver accurate outcomes.
• Maintain high quality standards - inspect completed work, perform measurements and ensure tolerances.
• Work safely and efficiently - complete tasks within required timeframes while focusing on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Support continuous improvement - contribute ideas to improve workshop processes.

We're looking for experienced Machinist to join our team in Rocky to support our award-winning team in the CRC workshop. This is a Permanent, Monday to Friday role.

What you'll be doing

As a Machinist at Hastings Deering, you will:

• Produce quality components - machine, repair and manufacture components to precise specifications and tolerances.
• Operate machining equipment - safely and effectively use CNC and manual lathes, mills, boring machines and related workshop equipment.
• Read and interpret drawings - work from technical drawings, specifications and work instructions to deliver accurate outcomes.
• Maintain high quality standards - inspect completed work, perform measurements and ensure components meet required tolerances and quality requirements.
• Work safely and efficiently - complete tasks within required timeframes while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and productivity.
• Support continuous improvement - contribute ideas and initiatives that improve workshop processes, efficiency and workmanship.
• Safety first, ALWAYS! - demonstrate a personal commitment to a safe workplace and actively participate in safety initiatives.
