Job summary

Afrimat CM North invites applications for a Fitter Learnership in Mpumalanga. The role focuses on assisting with maintenance, repairs, and installations of plant equipment, gaining hands-on experience under supervision.

Ideal candidates are matriculated, physically fit, with a willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced environment. Overtime may be required, and a valid driver’s license is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Matric/Grade 12 (or equivalent).
• N4/N5 in Boilermaking or Mechanical Engineering is advantageous.
• Willingness to learn and undergo practical training.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically fit and able to work overtime when required.
• A valid driver’s license will be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist the qualified Fitter with maintenance, repair and installation of plant equipment.
• Assist with replacement of crusher wear parts and maintenance of jaw crushers, cone crushers, and screening equipment.
• Assist with replacement of belts, bearings, pulleys, gearboxes and other mechanical components.
• Assist with changing gearbox and hydraulic oils and collecting oil samples for condition monitoring.
• Assist with replacing screen panels, sieves, skirting and conveyor components.
• Inspect mechanical equipment and identify defects needing maintenance.
• Support planned preventive maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area in line with safety standards.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and health and safety regulations.
• Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned by Artisan or Supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping per company standards.

• A valid driver’s licence will be advantageous.

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)

• Assist the qualified Fitter with the maintenance, repair and installation of plant equipment.
• Assist with the replacement of crusher wear parts.
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of jaw crushers, cone crushers and screening equipment.
• Assist with the replacement of V-belts, bearing, pulleys, gearboxes and other mechanical components under supervision.
• Assist with changing gearbox and hydraulic oils, lubricating plant equipment, and collecting oil samples for condition monitoring.
• Assist in replacing screen panels, sieves, skirting and conveyor components.
• Assist with inspecting mechanical equipment and identifying defects requiring maintenance.
• Assist with planned preventative maintenance and breakdown repairs.
• Maintain a clean, safe and organised work area in accordance with the Company's safety standards.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures and comply with all healthy and safety regulations.
• Perform any other maintenance- related duties assigned by the Artisan or Maintenance Supervisor.
• Maintain good housekeeping in accordance with the company standards.

The candidates must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the Company standards for medical fitness.
