Job summary

Afrimat CM Eastern Cape (Pty) Ltd in Gqeberha is seeking a Millwright with strong electrical and mechanical maintenance skills. The role requires N3 electrical qualification, a wireman’s license, and MHSA compliance.

You will perform maintenance, installations and repairs on diverse equipment, read electrical drawings, and ensure safety and legal standards are adhered to. Closing date is 27 October 2026.

Qualifications

• Must be medically fit under Mine Health and Safety Act and company standards.
• Sound knowledge of mining environment and quarry regulations.
• Valid driver’s license and strong communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and unsupervised, with deadline-driven mindset.
• Must be able to read electrical drawings and interpret technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Execute daily electrical maintenance (PM scheduling) to meet OEE targets.
• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems.
• Identify causes of faults and perform repairs.
• Ensure compliance with SANS0142 electrical standards.
• Develop and implement electrical maintenance plans and inspections.
• Maintain SHE systems and complete legal inspections.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings; install and align heavy machinery.
• Inspect and maintain mechanical systems including pumps, conveyors, bearings and hydraulics.

Millwright

Minimum Qualifications / Experience

• An electrical qualification with a minimum of N3 and a wireman's license - 3-5 yrs experience
• Must be medically fit in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act and the company standards for medical fitness
• Must have sound knowledge and understanding of the mining environment
• Must have a good understanding of the legal aspects pertaining to the quarry
• Computer literate
• Valid driver's license
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Planning and decision-making skills
• The ability to work as part of a team but also without supervision.
• Must have the ability to work under pressure and be deadline driven

Duties And Responsibilities (not Limited To)

• Executing daily electrical maintenance (PM maintenance scheduling and ensuring all electrical equipment operates to required OEE's)
• Installing, maintaining, repairing, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical systems, machinery and equipment
• Identifying causes of electrical dysfunctions and repairing
• Compliance with all electrical work to SANS0142
• Devising and implementing electrical maintenance plans
• Complete required legal inspections and maintain the required SHE system
• Be able to read and interpret all electrical drawings
• Install, align and dismantle heavy industrial machinery and equipmen
• Inspect and maintain mechanical systems, including pumps, conveyors, bearings and hydraulics systems
• Conduct trouble shooting and root cause analysis on mechanical breakdowns
• Ensure proper lubrication, alignment and balance of machinery to prevent wear and tear.
• Read and interpret technical drawings
• Adherence to the Mine Health and Safety Act
