Job summary

Origin Support Services Pty Ltd in Cairns is seeking a Financial Controller to manage day-to-day financial control, reporting, and compliance, supporting strategic decisions and financial sustainability. This role oversees accounts payable/receivable, payroll for 170+ staff, bank reconciliations, budgeting, financial reporting, NDIS invoicing, and process improvements.

This role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously and manage competing

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a Financial Controller, Senior Finance Officer, Finance Manager, or similar role.
• Demonstrated experience in accounts payable, reconciliations, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, cash flow management, and financial controls.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Sound knowledge of relevant Australian financial, taxation, payroll, and employment legislation.

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of the organisation's financial plans and objectives.
• Prepare monthly management reports, financial statements, forecasts, and cash flow projections.
• Monitor organisational financial performance and identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
• Assist with the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets.
• Process and authorise supplier invoices in a timely and accurate manner.
• Perform daily, weekly, and monthly bank reconciliations.
• Oversee NDIS invoicing, claiming, payment processing, and funding reconciliations.
• Oversee payroll processing for 170+ employees.
• Maintain and optimise Xero and related financial systems.
• Develop and improve financial processes, controls, and workflows.
