Job summary

Stabilised Pavements of Australia is seeking a Financial Controller based at our Head Office in Somersby, NSW. You will oversee financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, treasury, tax, payroll and compliance, driving accuracy and timeliness across the business.

You will lead the finance team, ensure robust internal controls and deliver insightful financial information to support executive decisions. Experience with Jobpac and Australian accounting standards is highly regarded.

Qualifications

  • CA/CPA designation or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AAS).
  • Proven ERP experience, direct Jobpac experience preferred.
  • Strong budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Comprehensive taxation knowledge and compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee integrity and timeliness of financial activities across SPA.
  • Lead the Finance Team including accounting, payroll and accounts payable.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports per regulatory requirements.
  • Manage annual budget and rolling forecast processes.
  • Provide finance support to Business and Regional Managers for profitability and analysis.
  • Maintain banking arrangements and financing needs.
  • Coordinate external audit process and tax obligations.
  • Manage financial information for internal and external stakeholders.

Our Head Office is based on the Central Coast, New South Wales with additional depots located in Melbourne, Adelaide, Brisbane, Townsville, Perth and Hobart. We have been operating for 45 years and employ over 250 people.

About the role

Reporting to the Manager Corporate Services and based out of our Head Office in Somersby NSW, the Financial Controller is responsible for the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of all financial activities across SPA, and for the leadership and development of the finance team. The role oversees the financial accounting, reporting, budgeting, treasury, tax, payroll and compliance functions and delivers the financial insight that supports executive and operational decision making. We are looking for candidates who have exceptional attention to detail, excellent communication skills and ability to work as part of team.

Duties
  • ERP Ownership (Jobpac) including the integrity, security and control of financial data held in the system.
  • Leadership of the Finance Team covering accounting, payroll and accounts payable.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, ensuring all reporting is accurate, timely and compliant with regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the annual budget and rolling forecast process, including preparation, consolidation, analysis and reporting.
  • Provide finance support to Business Managers and Regional Managers, assisting with financial planning, budgeting, project profitability and analysis.
  • Maintain banking arrangements and manage the financing needs of the business.
  • Manage all taxation obligations of the company.
  • Coordinate the external audit process.
  • Manage the financial information, reporting and support needs of a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Chartered Accountant (CA ANZ) or Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA Australia)
  • Expert technical accounting knowledge, including Australian Accounting Standards, statutory reporting and consolidations.
  • Strong, practical ERP knowledge, direct Jobpac experience is strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, treasury and banking arrangements.
  • Comprehensive taxation knowledge covering company tax, GST, FBT, payroll tax and the associated compliance obligations.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement and monitor internal financial controls and to coordinate the external audit process.
  • Civil contracting or heavy construction industry accounting experience will be highly regarded.
