Job summary

Stabilised Pavements of Australia (SPA) is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead Tasmania operations and mentor project teams across road construction and pavement rehabilitation projects.

The role combines strategic operational management with hands-on field leadership, ensuring safe, efficient, high-quality outcomes while supporting project delivery across the state.

Qualifications

• 7+ years civil, earthworks and pavement project delivery experience.
• Proven leadership capability as a Senior Foreman or Supervisor in civil construction.
• Ability to mentor and develop operational teams.
• Collaborative and solutions-focused approach.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Willingness and capability to work hands-on as the Supervisor for select projects.

As our Tasmanian business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to provide operational leadership while playing an active role in project delivery across the state. The role combines strategic operational management with hands‑on construction leadership, supporting project teams to consistently deliver safe, efficient and high‑quality outcomes.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Regional Manager, you will provide leadership and support across multiple projects while helping build capability within our project delivery teams.

You will work closely with Project Engineers, Supervisors and Foremen, providing guidance, technical support and practical construction leadership from project planning through to completion. This role will be majority field based, working directly with site teams to support delivery and mentor operational personnel in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of civil construction and pavement rehabilitation projects, including taking a hands‑on Supervisor role for select projects.
• Provide coaching and mentorship to Foremen, Operators and Supervisors.
• Promote consistent operational and construction best practice across the business.
• Support project planning, programming, resourcing and mobilisation activities.

About You

You will be a practical and respected construction leader with experience in civil construction, roadworks, pavement rehabilitation, stabilisation, or similar infrastructure sectors.

You will bring:

• 7+ years civil, earthworks and pavement project delivery experience.
• Proven leadership capability as a Senior Foreman or Supervisor in civil construction.
• The ability to mentor and develop operational teams.
• A collaborative and solutions‑focused approach.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
