Job summary

FCC Construction Australia Pty Ltd – Sydney CBD NSW is seeking a skilled Project Accountant for a site-based role in Sydney, NSW. You will manage cost reporting, accruals, cash flow, WBS maintenance, and monthly cost reviews with engineers and project managers to ensure accurate project accounting.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in accounting, 5+ years' experience in construction finance, proficiency in Excel, and SAP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Advanced Excel skills and ability to manage and improve cost reporting processes.
• Experience with cost coding spend and preparing project cash flow forecasts.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Monthly Project Cost Reports and associated analysis reports
• Maintain Project Work Breakdown Structure codes
• Prepare monthly Accrual Journals and Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Invoice the client per head contract terms and timing requirements
• Closing contract costs on monthly basis
• Maintain project-related ledger accounts
• Create and distribute month-end project reports to Project Manager and corporate BU
• Control project accounts payable and receivable tasks
• Prepare Project working capital and cashflows
• Review project forecasts and resolve outstanding matters promptly

Key aspects of this role include:

• Prepare Monthly Project Cost Reports and associated analysis reports
• Produce and monitor transaction reports for Purchase Orders / Goods Received / Subcontractor & Supplier Invoices
• Assist procurement & engineering teams with accurately cost coding spend
• Participate in monthly cost reviews with PM of each Engineer’s Actual vs Planned cost status
• Assist Engineers with Forecast Cost to Complete calculations
• Prepare monthly Accrual Journals and associated Balance Sheet reconciliations
• Maintain Project Work Breakdown Structure codes
• Assist in preparation of Project Cash Flow Forecast
• Invoice the client as per head contract terms and timing requirements
• Closing contract costs on monthly basis
• Maintenance of project-related ledger accounts
• Maintain list of month-end deadlines
• Create and distribute month-end project reports to Project Manager and corporate BU
• Control project accounts payable and receivable tasks
• Preparation of Project working capital and cashflows
• Review project forecasts on a regular basis and resolve any outstanding matters promptly

We are looking for an experienced Project Accountant - a team player with the following experience and capabilities:

• Prior construction experience is essential (ideally on Projects greater than $500M)
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent
• Ideally a minimum 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
• Prior experience with SAP would be ideal, but not essential.
• Advanced Excel skills
• Demonstrated ability to manage & improve on existing processes & procedures
• Ability to build rapport at all levels of the project but in particular with Managers, Engineers and the Finance team
