Job summary

Anglicare Sydney is seeking a Financial Capability Caseworker to deliver targeted, short-term support to individuals and families facing financial stress. The role uses a person-centred, trauma-informed approach to help clients plan, budget and build lasting financial resilience.

You will collaborate with Financial Counselling, Community Pantries, Hubs and other services in local communities. With integrity and resilience, you’ll provide practical money coaching, case planning and referrals to

Qualifications

  • Degree in Social Work, Community Services or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years’ experience working with diverse or disadvantaged communities, including people experiencing financial hardship.
  • Financial Literacy Education certification, or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual financial capability casework to people and families experiencing financial stress.
  • Complete person-centred and trauma-informed assessments to understand financial needs and any complex or intersecting challenges.
  • Help clients understand their financial position by developing money plans, reviewing income and expenditure and identifying opportunities to improve money management.
  • Develop and review client-led case plans, supporting people to set practical goals and build financial knowledge, skills and confidence.
  • Provide strengths-based financial coaching that encourages positive behaviour change, problem-solving and long-term financial resilience.

Financial Capability Caseworker…Be welcomed into a compassionate, respectful and purpose-driven community where we don’t just talk about values – we live them.'Your opportunityWorking within our Financial Wellbeing & Community team, you’ll meet people where they are – in Anglicare offices and across community locations including community hubs, pantries, churches and local services.Using a person-centred, trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, you’ll work alongside clients to understand their financial circumstances, identify their goals and develop practical strategies that support lasting change.You’ll work closely with Financial Counsellors, Community Pantries and Hubs and other services to provide integrated support, while building strong relationships and referral pathways across the local community. Financial Capability Caseworker.What you’ll bringYou’re someone who can talk about money without judgement and understands that financial hardship is rarely just about numbers.You’ll bring genuine compassion for people experiencing financial stress, together with the practical case management skills to help clients identify their own goals and build the confidence and capability to achieve them.You’re calm under pressure and comfortable supporting people who may be distressed or experiencing complex circumstances. You can connect effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.You’ll also be comfortable working out in the community and collaborating with churches, local services and other organisations to make support easier for people to access. Financial Capability Caseworker.What’s required:Degree in Social Work, Community Services or a related discipline, or diploma/other relevant qualification with substantial relevant experience.At least 2 years’ experience working with diverse or disadvantaged communities, including people experiencing financial hardship.Financial Literacy Education certification, or willingness to obtain.Strong case management skills, including goal setting, monitoring progress and adapting support as client needs change.Experience using client databases or CRM systems.Strong communication, collaboration and organisational skills.Valid Working with Children Check for paid employment.Current NSW Driver’s Licence is desirable.
