Job summary

Anglicare Sydney is seeking a Counsellor to provide professional and therapeutic counselling to individuals facing complex emotional and family challenges. You will work within our Community & Mission team to develop tailored case plans and deliver evidence-based interventions.

You will build strong referral pathways, maintain client records, and contribute to group work where appropriate while upholding professional standards and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
• Graduate membership of a PACFA, AASW, APS or similar body.
• Training and clinical experience in family and relationship counselling, couples counselling and/or child and adolescent counselling.
• Demonstrated assessment and counselling experience, including a minimum of 160 hours of client contact.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Current NSW Driver's Licence; ability to meet probity requirements including Police Check and Working with Children Check.

Responsibilities

Your opportunity

Working within our Community & Mission team and reporting to the Program Manager - Counselling, you'll provide therapeutic counselling and support tailored to each client's individual circumstances.

You'll work collaboratively with clients to develop clear and achievable case plans, provide professional therapeutic interventions and advocate for the support they need.

You'll also build strong referral pathways and community networks, connecting clients with external services and, where appropriate, church-based supports to help achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

You'll bring strong assessment and therapeutic skills, with the ability to work sensitively with people navigating complex emotional and relationship issues. You know how to build rapport while maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality and sound clinical judgement.

You're resilient and calm under pressure, comfortable working collaboratively and committed to continually developing your professional practice.

What's required

• Tertiary qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.
• Graduate membership of a PACFA registered organisation, AASW, APS or similar professional body.
• Training and clinical experience in family and relationship counselling, couples counselling and/or child and adolescent counselling.
• Demonstrated assessment and counselling experience, including a minimum of 160 hours of client contact.
• Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
• Current NSW Driver's Licence.
• Ability to meet Anglicare's probity requirements, including a Police Check and Working with Children Check.
