Job summary

Singleton Council invites applications for the role of Team Leader - Finance Operations. This 12-month contract role offers a pathway to senior finance leadership with exposure to local government financial operations, audits, and process improvements.

You will lead the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury and Payroll functions, drive improvements, and support statutory reporting while guiding a dedicated finance team across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Accounting, Finance or related discipline, or significant contemporary experience in a similar role.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach, motivate and support staff.
• Strong knowledge and experience in payroll, accounts payable and/or accounts receivable functions.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and computer literacy skills.
• A commitment to customer service and continuous improvement.
• A current Class C Driver Licence.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate Council's Payroll, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Treasury functions.
• Support the preparation of statutory financial reports and returns.
• Review and enhance internal controls, systems and processes.
• Contribute to the successful completion of annual financial audits.
• Provide leadership, coaching and support to finance team members.
• Assist with reconciliations, data management and master file maintenance.
• Support compliance with legislative, regulatory and policy requirements.
• Collaborate across the organisation to deliver high-quality customer service and financial support.
