Job summary

Uniting Church in Australia, Synod of NSW & ACT seeks a detail-oriented Accounts Officer to join the National Assembly finance team in Sydney. This permanent full-time role supports accurate financial operations, including AP/AR, fixed assets, and credit card administration, while maintaining strong financial controls.

You will report to the Finance Manager, assist with month-end tasks and provide stakeholder-focused service across the Assembly and related entities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance role with AP/AR and reconciliations.
• Ability to meet deadlines and maintain accuracy.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of financial data.

Responsibilities

• Manage Accounts Payable, including data entry, supplier statements, weekly payment runs and AP ageing reports.
• Manage Accounts Receivable, including invoicing, receipting, recharging and reconciliations.
• Coordinate debtor communications and ensure correct allocation of receipts.
• Prepare month-end checklist tasks and reconcile AP/AR to general ledger.
• Maintain Fixed Asset Register and depreciation entries.
• Assist with bank reconciliations and cashflow monitoring.
• Oversee credit card expense management and approvals.
• Support finance team with reporting and compliance.
