Accounts Officer: Month-End, Reconciliations & Trust Accounting

Job summary

Business NSW is seeking an experienced Accounts Officer to join the Finance team in Sydney CBD. The role supports day-to-day accounting across multiple entities and offers exposure to month-end activities, reconciliations, fixed assets, AP/AR, and fleet administration.

You'll report to the Accounting Manager and work with the broader Finance team to broaden your accounting experience in a varied corporate environment. Training will be provided in trust accounting as needed.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Accounting or a related discipline.
• Experience in an accounting, Accounts Payable or Accounts Receivable environment is helpful but not essential.
• Exposure to a high-volume processing environment would be advantageous.
• Strong reconciliation and numerical skills.
• A collaborative approach with strong communication and customer service skills.
• No prior trust accounting experience is required; training will be provided as part of the role.
• Experience with TechnologyOne, Xero, LEAP, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or Microsoft Office is advantageous, but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end accounting processes including accruals, journals and intercompany recharges.
• Complete bank and general ledger reconciliations.
• Maintain the Fixed Asset Register and associated reconciliations.
• Process and reconcile prepayments.
• Support debtor reporting for month-end reporting.
• Assist with FBT analysis and annual FBT return preparations.
• Process supplier invoices, staff expenses and purchase card transactions.
• Provide backup support across Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
• Assist with banking, receipting and resolving payment queries.
• Assist with trust accounting activities and fleet management records.
