Job summary

Design & Build is seeking a Finance Manager for Major Projects in Western Sydney. The role partners with project leadership to drive financial oversight, reporting and commercial insights for large-scale infrastructure projects.

You will forecast, control costs, manage cash flow and provide profitability analysis in collaboration with operational teams. The position emphasizes strong project finance expertise, advanced Excel skills and the ability to deliver timely, accurate financial reporting

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Project Finance Manager or Senior Project Accountant role within construction, infrastructure, engineering or electrical contracting.
• Demonstrated experience supporting large-scale projects with significant budgets and complex cost structures.
• Strong understanding of project financial management including forecasting, cost control, cash flow and margin analysis.
• Experience partnering with Project Directors, Project Managers and operational teams to drive commercial outcomes.
• Strong month-end, management reporting and financial analysis capabilities.
• Ability to identify financial risks, investigate variances and provide practical recommendations.
• Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems and reporting tools.
• Proactive, commercially focused approach for fast-paced project environments.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Project Director and project leadership team to provide financial and commercial support across a major project.
• Lead project financial reporting, month-end processes and management accounts.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting and cash flow projections, identifying risks and opportunities.
• Monitor project costs, margins, work in progress and financial performance against budget.
• Provide commercial analysis and insights to support project delivery and profitability.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable and project-related financial processes.
• Manage financial reporting, reconciliations and variance analysis, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Work closely with project managers and operational stakeholders to improve financial visibility and cost control.
• Support financial planning and contribute to broader business reporting and strategic decision-making.
