Job summary

Aspect Personnel is seeking a capable Accounts Payable professional to join a small, close-knit finance team in Melbourne. You will manage full-cycle AP, assist with payroll support and compliance reporting, and work under a supportive CFO-led environment with training provided.

Central to the role is strong communication, problem-solving, and a proactive approach. Construction industry exposure is preferred but not essential, as training is offered to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounts payable including invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, employee expenses, and weekly/monthly payment runs.
• Month-end reconciliations and journals (GL and credit cards).
• Support BAS, PAYG and other compliance reporting.
• Back-up payroll support and entitlements, super, Incolink and Co-invest (training provided).
• Assist with internal/external audits and liaise with stakeholders.

About the company and team:

An established commercial construction business based in Melbourne's east, delivering projects across a diverse range of sectors. You'll join a small, close-knit finance team that reports to the CFO - a trusting, flexible and caring manager. You'll be trained and supported by an experienced colleague who knows the full AP and payroll function. Construction industry or Jobpac experience is a bonus but not essential, as full training is provided. More importantly, they're looking for someone who will be a great fit for the team: a strong communicator and team player who is proactive, enjoys solving problems, and genuinely cares about their role, the business and the people around them.

Key Responsibilities

• Full-cycle accounts payable: invoice processing, supplier reconciliations, employee expenses, and weekly and month-end payment runs
• Month-end reconciliations and journals (general ledger and credit cards)
• Support with BAS, PAYG and other compliance reporting
• Back-up payroll support, including entitlements, super, Incolink and Co-invest (training provided)
• Support financial controls and audits, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders

Key Requirements

• Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role and a demonstrated stable work history
• Construction industry experience preferred, but other industries will be considered
• Experience with accounting systems (familiarity with Jobpac is a bonus)
• Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
• Strong team player with a positive can-do attitude
• Pro-active approach and a natural problem solver
