Job summary

Suncorp is seeking a skilled Financial Analyst to support budgeting, forecasting and management reporting for the Home business with a strong claims focus. You will partner with stakeholders, finance teams and offshore partners to translate data into actionable recommendations and drive performance improvements.

The role offers exposure to senior stakeholders, opportunities to develop technical and stakeholder skills, and a collaborative team culture with clear career progression.

Qualifications

  • Three years+ experience in financial services or similar environment.
  • •Experience with month-end processes, journals and financial controls.
  • Strong analytical skills in budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear insights for stakeholders.
  • Development of stakeholder relationships and communication with senior leaders.
  • Proficient in Excel and data tools; familiarity with TM1/Oracle/Cognos.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process month-end journals and support close activities.
  • Deliver management reporting, budgeting and forecasting across the business.
  • Analyze large data sets and translate findings into actionable insights.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define financial requirements and reports.
  • Build and enhance reporting using Power Query; improve clarity and automation.
  • Identify process improvements to simplify reporting and controls.
  • Collaborate across teams and mentor junior staff.

About the Role

Great opportunity within a leading Trans-Tasman Insurer to support the financial and operational performance of the Home business, with a strong focus on claims. You will partner with business stakeholders, finance teams and offshore partners to deliver budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and performance insights. Working within a collaborative team, you will analyse expense and workforce results, identify business drivers and translate data into clear recommendations.

This role offers exposure to senior stakeholders, meaningful analytical work and opportunities to build your capability for future career progression.

What You'll Do
  • Prepare and process month-end journals and support financial close activities, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely delivery of financial information.
  • Deliver accurate management reporting including month-end and year-end, budgeting and forecasting across the business
  • Working across large data sets, turning complex information into practical insights
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand their financial and analytical requirements
  • Build and enhance reporting using Power Query, focusing on clarity, automation, and usability
  • Identify and implement process improvements to simplify reporting and improve processes, contributing to transformation and continuous improvement activities
  • Collaborate effectively across various functional teams and mentoring juniors within the team
What You'll Bring
  • At least three years' experience in financial services, a large complex organisation, or a professional services/accounting environment, with exposure to month-end processes, journals and financial controls.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting and financial performance analysis.
  • Ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights and reporting that support informed business decision-making and business performance.
  • Ability to develop effective stakeholder relationships and communicate financial information clearly with experience working with senior leaders
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel & data skills (power query and DAX desired), with experience using PowerPoint, Word and financial systems such as TM1, Oracle or Cognos
  • A relevant qualification in accounting, business or finance with a commitment to continuous learning and development
  • A proactive, adaptable and collaborative approach, supported by strong attention to detail and clear communication skills
  • A continuous improvement focus, with the capability to identify efficiencies and enhance reporting, processes and controls.
