Job summary

Suncorp Group is seeking a driven analytics professional to contribute to consumer insurance pricing and portfolio optimisation. You will deliver end-to-end data and modelling solutions, turning complex analyses into actionable business recommendations and scalable pricing implementations.

You will collaborate with Portfolio, Finance and Claims Operations, building dashboards and monitoring frameworks to track performance and inform pricing decisions. The role is a 12-month contract in Sydney.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, actuarial studies or another quantitative discipline.
  • 1+ year of advanced analytics or data science experience.
  • Proficient in R, SAS, Python or VBA and automation.
  • Knowledge of GLMs and ML techniques (GBMs, RFs, neural nets).
  • Clear communication of complex concepts and collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and prioritise risk selection initiatives using data insights and stakeholder input.
  • Investigate portfolio opportunities and recommend strategies balancing growth, profitability and risk.
  • Deliver scalable risk selection solutions within pricing systems.
  • Design monitoring frameworks and dashboards to measure initiative performance.
  • Translate analytical findings into clear reports and practical business recommendations.
  • Evaluate emerging data sources and modelling approaches.

This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

About The Role

Join the Model Activate and Analytics team within Consumer Insurance Pricing and Analytics. You will deliver end-to-end data and modelling solutions that improve risk selection and support sustainable portfolio outcomes. Working with Portfolio, Finance, Claims Operations and pricing teams, you will turn complex analysis into clear recommendations. You will also implement scalable solutions within pricing systems, establish performance monitoring and explore new data sources, rating factors and modelling techniques.

What You'll Do
  • Identify and prioritise risk selection initiatives using data insights and stakeholder input
  • Investigate portfolio opportunities and recommend strategies that balance growth, profitability and risk
  • Deliver and implement robust, scalable risk selection solutions within pricing systems
  • Design monitoring frameworks and dashboards that measure initiative performance
  • Translate analytical findings into clear reports and practical business recommendations
  • Evaluate emerging data sources, rating factors and predictive modelling approaches
What You'll Bring
  • Hold a bachelor's degree in data science, statistics, mathematics, computer science, actuarial studies or another quantitative discipline
  • Bring at least one year of relevant advanced analytics or data science experience
  • Demonstrate coding experience with R, SAS, Python or VBA, plus a commitment to automation
  • Apply knowledge of Generalised Linear Models and machine learning techniques, including gradient boosting, random forests or neural networks
  • Communicate advanced technical concepts clearly and support colleagues in building capability
  • Offer experience with Git, Linux, insurance modelling, AWS, Databricks or AI coding agents where applicable
