About the opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Finance & Administration Manager to join the Olive Downs Complex team based in our Brisbane office with some site travel required.

Reporting to the Finance Business Partnering Manager, you will lead the project finance and administration function, provide trusted commercial and financial advice to project leadership, and ensure strong financial governance, reporting, controls and commercial outcomes across the project.

You will lead and develop the project finance and administration team while partnering closely with operational leaders, the client and functional stakeholders across head office and site.

Your main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the project finance and administration function, setting clear priorities, accountabilities and standards for the team.
  • Oversee the timely and accurate completion of end-of-month deliverables, project reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial results in accordance with accounting standards, company policies and internal controls.
  • Lead monthly cost reviews with project leadership, ensuring key variances, risks, opportunities and required actions are clearly understood and addressed.
  • Own the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for the project, including review and challenge of cost build-ups, operational assumptions and financial forecasts.
  • Provide high-quality commercial and financial advice to support project strategy, operational decision-making and delivery of financial targets.
  • Oversee project revenue, progress claims, working capital and cash collection, including liaison with the client to support timely certification and payment in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Maintain effective finance and administration systems, processes and controls that meet project and company requirements.
  • Identify and communicate financial and commercial risks and opportunities early, develop practical responses and drive actions through to close-out.
  • Partner with operational and functional stakeholders across head office and site to strengthen financial accountability, improve cost control and lift reporting quality.
  • Lead, coach and develop finance and administration team members through clear expectations, regular feedback and ongoing capability development.
  • Build trusted relationships and communicate financial and commercial insights clearly to project leadership, the client and other internal and external stakeholders.
About you

You will be a finance leader who combines strong technical capability and commercial judgement with a practical, collaborative leadership style. You will be comfortable working across both strategic and operational matters, challenging constructively and translating complex financial information into clear actions and outcomes.

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance or a related discipline.
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Significant project accounting, management accounting or commercial finance experience, ideally within mining, resources, construction or heavy industry.
  • Strong experience in end-of-month reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, working capital and financial governance.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to provide practical advice, influence decisions and constructively challenge stakeholders at all levels.
  • Experience working with client claims, revenue processes or contract-based project environments will be highly regarded.
  • Previous JDE experience is highly regarded but not essential.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, with a strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • A commitment to safety, accountability, continuous improvement and team success.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to the Olive Downs Complex site as required.
What's on offer
