Job summary

Big Wheels Transport, Huntingwood NSW, is looking for a Finance & Accounts Manager to lead day-to-day financial operations, ensure accurate reporting, and support strategic financial objectives within our transport and logistics business.

You will supervise AP/AR, GL, payroll, GST compliance and budgeting for transport operations, collaborating with auditors, improving controls, and delivering timely insights to senior management.

Qualifications

• Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.

Finance & Accounts Manager – Transport & Logistics

Big Wheels Transport is seeking a talented Finance & Accounts Manager – Transport & Logistics to join our growing finance team. This is a full-time position based in Huntingwood, NSW 2148. As Finance & Accounts Manager, you will play a crucial role in managing our financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and supporting the strategic financial objectives of our transport and logistics business. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team in a fast-paced industry, where your financial expertise will directly contribute to the company's success and growth.

What you'll be doing

Managing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance

Preparing and analysing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements

Overseeing the reconciliation of bank accounts, balance sheet accounts and inter-company transactions

Managing payroll processing, tax compliance and superannuation obligations for the transport and logistics workforce

Developing and monitoring financial budgets and forecasts specific to transport operations

Ensuring accurate and timely recording of all transport-related expenses, fuel costs, vehicle maintenance and driver payments

Liaising with external auditors and tax advisors to ensure compliance with financial reporting standards and tax legislation

Implementing and maintaining internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard company assets

Providing financial analysis and reporting to senior management to support business decision-making

Managing financial systems and databases, including data entry, verification and system troubleshooting

What we're looking for

Relevant qualification in accounting or finance, such as an accounting diploma or degree, or equivalent professional qualification (CPA or ICAA membership preferred)

Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting roles, preferably within the transport, logistics or similar operational business environment

Proficiency in accounting software and financial management systems, with strong experience in Microsoft Excel

Solid knowledge of Australian tax obligations, GST compliance, payroll and superannuation regulations

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting

Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines

Experience with month-end and year-end close procedures and financial reconciliations

Sound understanding of transport and logistics industry costing and expense management

Professional communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments

A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement in financial processes
