Job summary

Shoreline Freighters is seeking an experienced Transport Company Manager to organise and control transport operations from the Coffs Harbour head office. You will hold end-to-end responsibility for the vehicle fleet, transport scheduling and the subcontractor network, in a hands-on management role.

This role requires leadership, knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle regulation, and experience with transport management systems and ePOD to maintain safety and service across depots.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline is preferred.
• Minimum three years in transport or freight operations management.
• Experience managing a commercial vehicle fleet and a transport team.
• Working knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle regulation, Chain of Responsibility and safety obligations.
• Experience with transport management systems and electronic proof of delivery.
• Strong communication and client/subcontractor relationship skills.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and full working rights in Australia.

Responsibilities

• Organise procurement of fuel and consumables and arrange vehicle availability for maintenance.
• Liaise with clients to determine freight requirements, advise on vehicle type and hire rates, and resolve escalations.
• Receive orders, plan and implement transportation schedules across the depot network.
• Arrange collection and delivery of vehicles and goods, ensuring quality is maintained during transport and storage.
• Manage and develop the transport workforce, including allocation of drivers and staff.
• Engage, brief and monitor subcontractors and manage performance and compliance.
• Maintain transport records and prepare operational statements for management.
• Ensure compliance with OH&S, Chain of Responsibility and heavy vehicle regulations.

Shoreline Freighters is a family-owned freight and logistics business that has operated on the north coast of NSW for over 30 years. We run a fleet of more than 100 vehicles across four depots, with our head office in Coffs Harbour and depots at Wauchope, Taree and South Murwillumbah. About the role

This is a hands-on management role in a growing regional business.

Key responsibilities

• Organise the procurement of fuel and consumables for transport operations, and arrange for vehicles to be made available for scheduled maintenance
• Liaise with clients to determine freight requirements, advise on vehicle type, hire rates and obligations, and resolve escalated complaints
• Receive orders and bookings, and plan and implement transportation schedules across the depot network
• Arrange the collection and delivery of vehicles and goods, and ensure goods are stored and transported in conditions that maintain their quality
• Manage and develop the transport workforce, including allocation of drivers and transport staff across the network
• Engage, brief and monitor subcontractors, and manage subcontractor performance and compliance
• Maintain transport business records and prepare operational statements and reports for management
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety requirements, Chain of Responsibility obligations and heavy vehicle regulations

What we are looking for

• An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in a relevant discipline. At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualification
• A minimum of three years of relevant experience in transport or freight operations management
• Demonstrated experience managing a commercial vehicle fleet and a team of transport staff
• Working knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle regulation, Chain of Responsibility and workplace health and safety obligations
• Experience with transport management systems and electronic proof of delivery
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and subcontractors
• A current Australian driver's licence
