Job summary

FLSmidth is seeking trade-qualified Mechanical Fitters and Boilermakers to join our Field Service team in Queensland. In this hands-on role, you will support FLS equipment across customer sites and local workshops, delivering high-quality work to OEM standards with a strong safety focus.

You will travel to site locations for planned shutdowns, commissioning, maintenance and breakdown response, building relationships with customers and internal teams while maintaining detailed service reports.

Qualifications

• Trade-qualified Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker.
• Field service experience required.
• Experience with fixed plant equipment in mining or mineral processing.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Field Service Technicians - Mechanical Fitters/Boilermakers

We are seeking trade-qualified Mechanical Fitters and Boilermakers to join our Site Service team.

In this hands-on role, you will support FLS equipment across customer sites and local workshop operations. You will be a key point of contact for our customers, providing responsive technical support and delivering safe, high-quality work to OEM standards.

The role involves regular travel to customer sites, with work including planned shutdowns, commissioning activities, routine maintenance and breakdown response.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, service and repair fixed plant and mineral-processing equipment.

• Diagnose equipment faults and complete planned and unplanned maintenance.

• Support equipment commissioning, installations and shutdown activities.

• Complete clear and accurate service reports, including photographs and recommendations.

• Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

• Help customers improve equipment reliability, performance and availability.

• Plan and prioritise work effectively, including maintaining tools and good housekeeping standards.

• Build professional relationships with customers, contractors and internal teams.

• Comply with all safety, environmental, quality and customer site requirements.

• Promptly report hazards, incidents, non-conformances and customer concerns.

About you

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

• A relevant trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or Boilermaker.

• Previous field service experience & experience working with fixed plant equipment in mining or mineral processing.

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

• The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

• A strong commitment to safety, quality and customer service.

• Clear verbal and written communication skills.

• Basic computer literacy and the ability to complete detailed service reports.

• Strong planning, organisation and time-management skills.

• The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
