Job summary

FLSmidth in Australia is seeking an experienced Site Service Supervisor to lead and coordinate planned and unplanned service activities across customer sites and workshop operations.

You will supervise mechanical and screen service teams, emphasise safety, plan resources, and drive a right-first-time maintenance culture while collaborating with planning and engineering teams. Travel to customer sites is required, with CHPP shutdown experience and coal mine inductions highly valued.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or a related mechanical discipline.
  • Relevant coal mine inductions and current competencies.
  • Strong understanding of mining safety requirements and safe work practices.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate resources across changing operational priorities.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and team-development capability.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • A practical, hands-on approach with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate planned and unplanned service and maintenance activities across customer sites and workshop operations.
  • Supervise Mechanical and Screen Service teams, ensuring safe execution, productivity and effective utilisation of resources.
  • Demonstrate visible safety leadership through Safety Leadership Tours, Toolbox Talks and active participation in safety initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements, procedures, standards and applicable legislation.
  • Ensure incidents and hazards are reported, investigated and followed through with appropriate corrective actions.
  • Plan and allocate work to Service Technicians, balancing changing priorities, customer requirements and available resources.
  • Work closely with planning teams to coordinate predictive and preventative maintenance activities, shutdown preparation, labour, parts, tools and equipment.
  • Monitor daily maintenance activities and ensure work is completed efficiently, safely and to the required quality standards.
  • Review service documentation, inspection reports and condition-monitoring information before presentation to customers.
  • Promote a strong "right first time" approach and identify opportunities to improve procedures, maintenance practices and service quality.
  • Coach, develop and provide constructive feedback to team members, supporting both technical capability and professional development.
  • Build an engaged and collaborative team culture based on trust, accountability and teamwork.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships and provide practical solutions to customer requirements.
  • Ensure all customer interactions are professional and reinforce FLS's credibility as a trusted service partner.
  • Identify customer needs and market intelligence that may create additional value and business opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with Engineering and other internal teams to identify equipment trends and develop improved maintenance strategies.
  • Provide hands‑on technical support when required, including supporting other FLS supervisors and teams across customer sites.
  • Travel is required and will vary depending on customer and operational requirements.

What You Bring
  • Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting or a related mechanical discipline.
  • Previous experience supervising a site service or maintenance team within the mining industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading tradespeople in field service, maintenance or shutdown environments.
  • CHPP shutdown experience is highly regarded.
  • Relevant coal mine inductions and current competencies.
  • Strong understanding of mining safety requirements and safe work practices.
  • Ability to plan and coordinate resources across changing operational priorities.
  • Strong leadership, coaching and team‑development capability.
  • Excellent communication and customer relationship skills.
  • A practical, hands‑on approach with strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • Current Australian manual driver's licence.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
