Job summary

Symal in Melbourne is seeking a Safety Advisor to join a major road infrastructure project. You will work in a field-based safety role, supporting project leaders, supervisors and crews with hands-on safety at day-to-day civil works and live traffic environments.

Two to three years of safety experience in civil construction or road infrastructure and a Certificate IV in WHS are required. The role is permanent with an immediate start and focuses on risk management, incidents, and collaboration

Qualifications

• Two to three years' safety experience in civil construction or road infrastructure.
• Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety as a minimum qualification.
• Strong understanding of construction safety legislation and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Be the go-to safety resource for project leaders, supervisors and site teams, maintaining a strong and visible presence across daily construction activities.
• Lead site inspections, audits and risk assessments, and drive corrective actions through to close-out with the project team.
• Support the planning and control of high-risk civil works, including traffic interfaces, live road environments and heavy vehicle movements.
• Lead incident investigations and return-to-work processes, and deliver SWMS reviews, toolbox talks and project safety reporting.
• Engage directly with the client's safety team to ensure Symal, client and major transport infrastructure requirements are met.
