Job summary

Optus is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer for our Field Operations team based in Blacktown and surrounds. You will deliver service assurance, fault restoration, and routine maintenance across exchange and data centre environments, while coordinating with vendors and contractors to meet safety and quality standards.

In this role you will provide facility support for UPS, HVAC, and power systems, respond to incidents, and contribute to SOP improvements.

Qualifications

Diploma or degree in Telecommunications Engineering or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
Experience in fixed transmission networks and 5G/edge technology is advantageous.
Willingness to work in a 24/7 operational environment with shifts and on-call arrangements.

Responsibilities

Perform service delivery, maintenance, and fault restoration across exchange, hub, transmission, and data sites.
Provide first-in technical facility support for UPS, DC power, HVAC, fire systems, and building management systems.
Respond rapidly to incidents and restore services within SLA for consumer and enterprise customers.
Monitor data centre environments and coordinate vendor/contractor activity to ensure safety and compliance.
Contribute to manuals, SOPs, and methods of procedure; support development of new field engineers.
