Job summary

Optus is seeking a hands-on Network Engineer for its Field Operations team in Blacktown and surrounding areas. You will manage service delivery, fault restoration, and routine maintenance across exchange, hub, mobile, and data centre sites.

The role requires a technical telecom qualification or equivalent hands-on experience, with readiness for shift work, on-call duties, and 24/7 operations to support customers across consumer and enterprise segments.

Qualifications

• Hands-on network engineering experience in field operations.
• Understanding of switching, transmission, and mobile networks.
• Formal telecom qualifications or equivalent hands-on experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform service delivery, assurance, and maintenance across switching, transmission, and platforms at various sites.
• Provide facility support for critical infrastructure including UPS, DC power, HVAC, and fire systems.
• Respond rapidly to network incidents and restore services within SLA for customers.
• Monitor exchanges and data centres, coordinating with vendors and contractors.
• Help develop new field engineers and cadets, and refine SOPs and work instructions.
